Uniqueness, elegance, and craftsmanship made in Dolce&Gabbana found an exceptional stage in Rome. The evening at The Westin Excelsior marked the beginning of the exclusive events dedicated to 2025 Alta Moda, Alta Sartoria, and Alta Gioielleria—blending the allure of the creations with the brand’s distinctive lifestyle and rich sources of inspiration.
La Dolce Vita: eternal fascination
In the vibrant heart of the Eternal City, the unmistakable spirit of la dolce vita came back to life during an evening tribute to the timeless charm of Rome, Italian style, and classic cinema. Via Veneto—an iconic symbol of Roman nights in the 1950s and ’60s—returned to its legendary rhythm on the occasion of the evening that inaugurated Dolce&Gabbana’s Alta Gioielleria, Alta Moda, and Alta Sartoria events.
Among vintage cars and the iconic Vespa, guests were welcomed by the flashes of paparazzi and immersed in an atmosphere rich with the allure of the international jet set of the era—filled with divas, actors, and directors who shaped collective memory. Along this very street, the Westin Excelsior Hotel—an emblematic symbol of Roman high society—was transformed into an extraordinary stage, meticulously crafted down to the last detail to transport attendees to an exclusive event. Against the backdrop of unforgettable cinematic masterpieces, Dolce&Gabbana chose this setting to raise the curtain on their celebration.
Secret archive: the exhibition
Via Veneto was the vibrant heart of the opening night. Outside the Westin Excelsior Hotel, the exhibition SECRET DOLCE VITA, curated by Edoardo Dionea Cicconi, unveiled for the first time SECRET ARCHIVE—a photographic treasure trove of millions of previously unseen negatives and glass plates capturing an intimate portrait of Italy throughout the 20th century.
With the support of Dolce&Gabbana, a narrative comes to life—one where the glamour, cinema, and fashion of that era converge into a precious glimpse of the past, exceptionally opened to and shared with the entire city of Rome as a heartfelt tribute. This “urban film” unfolds through an emotional, dreamlike form of storytelling: a waking dream in which the city, unaware of its own starring role, radiates its splendor under the eyes of the world.
The sequence of images—ideally introduced by Federico Fellini—evokes a state of mind: an era suspended between euphoria and nostalgia, performance and truth. What emerges is a narrative woven with contrasts, where iconic moments lit by camera flashes are interlaced with everyday scenes, far from the spotlight. The macro converses with the micro, offering a layered vision of the city.
The open-air exhibition is accessible to the public from July 13th to 17th, thanks to the collaboration with Roma Capitale and the Department of Major Events, Sport, Tourism, and Fashion, led by Alessandro Onorato.
The voice of the evening
The opening night of Dolce&Gabbana Alta Moda 2025 was set to the unmistakable sound of Cher. One iconic track after another filled the air, bringing the venue to life and delighting guests. A true icon of music, culture, and cinema, Cher took the stage with her legendary voice, adding a wave of emotion to an already unforgettable atmosphere.
